The multiple Oscar nominee will join Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser in the series tentatively titled The Dutton Ranch.
More star power is being added to the Taylor Sheridan universe.
Multiple Oscar nominee Annette Bening, who memorably appeared opposite Kevin Costner in the instant-classic 2003 western Open Range, has signed on to co-star in the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off series tentatively titled The Dutton Ranch.
The show will re-introduce Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly as their Yellowstone characters Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton, and follow their lives on a new ranch. Finn Little will also be back as their adopted son Carter.
Bening will play Beulah Jackson, a woman described as “the powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.” It’s worth noting that, according to published reports, the new spinoff series currently is filming in the North Texas town of Ferris, near Dallas.
One of the most highly respected actresses of her generation, Bening has received five Academy Award nominations for her roles in The Grifters, American Beauty, Being Julia, The Kids Are Alright, and, most recently, Nyad. She won Golden Globes for Being Julia and The Kids Are Alright, and was nominated by Globe voters for her performances in Bugsy (in which she starred opposite future husband Warren Beatty), The American President, Mrs. Harris, Running with Scissors, Nyad, American Beauty, 20th Century Women, and The Report.
Elsewhere in the Taylor Sheridan Universe: The Madison, the upcoming series starring Michelle Pfeiffer as matriarch of a New York City family that relocates to Central Montana’s Madison River Valley, has already been renewed for a second season by Paramount+ even before its Season 1 premiere.
Meanwhile, Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton as Texas oil company executive and “fixer” Tommy Norris, will return Nov. 16 to Paramount+ with C&I reader favorite Sam Elliott joining the cast.
And Y: Marshals — the drama that has Luke Grimes reprising his Yellowstone character Kayce Dutton as a Montana lawman — is slated to premiere in early 2026 on CBS.
No word yet on two other Sheridan projects — 6666 and 1944 — reportedly in development. But, hey, the poor guy has to sleep sometime, right?
