The opulent property recently underwent a multimillion-dollar revitalization that totally transformed the guest experience.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, lures travelers interested in the arts, Indigenous design, and laid-back luxury at a slower pace of life. When visiting the Land of Enchantment, there’s simply no better place to stay than Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado. Set on 57 acres within the Sangre de Cristo foothills just 10 miles outside the City Different, the resplendent retreat underwent a multimillion-dollar revitalization that transformed the guest experience earlier this year. After our recent visit there, we can attest that the five-star hotel feels totally refreshed.
Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado is home to 65 secluded casitas and suites, all of which received a major face-lift as part of the renovation. That included infusing the pueblo-inspired spaces with nuanced Southwest nods, such as horse hair pottery by Acoma Pueblo artist Linda Concho and traditionally woven throw blankets from Tribe + True. Casitas have wood-burning kiva fireplaces as well as private patios, while suites feature separate living, dining, and sleeping areas—ideal for group getaways (including your four-legged friends, since the property is pet-friendly). All guest accommodations boast bespoke details like deep soaking tubs, heated bathroom floors, and of course walls of windows showcasing sweeping vistas of the serene surroundings. The alfresco ambiance throughout the picturesque property was also revamped to better reflect the desert scenery.
No judgment from us if you decide to spend your entire visit within the comfortable confines of your own personal retreat, especially since your every need and want can be met there. Should you choose to wander beyond the bounds of your casita, the luxurious resort has something for every type of traveler thanks to its top-notch dining, wellness, and adventure experiences.
At the center of the onsite culinary offerings is signature restaurant Terra, which serves up northern New Mexico flavors with global flair. Can’t-miss dishes include the green chili corn chowder, elk osso bucco, and crispy pork belly with blue cornbread; duos can opt for the storied steak for two. Next door, The Bar offers shareable snacks, salads, and sandwiches to savor while sitting around the fire and taking in the famed Santa Fe sunset. In-casita dining is available around the clock to ensure your cravings are satisfied any time of day or night.
Wellness is a major cornerstone at Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado, as evidenced by the 10,000-square-foot spafocused on high-desert healing. Within this soothing setting that’s situated on a spiritual vortex, treatments range from massages and facials to hair and nail services. Our pick? The Mountain Spirit Purification, which involves a smudging ritual, an adobe clay body mask, scalp and foot massages, and finally a juniper-sage hot-stone massage. Other wellness offerings include sound therapy, floating stand-up paddleboard yoga, and both private and group yoga sessions—rounded out of course by workouts in the state-of-the-art fitness center and lounging by the year-round outdoor pool.
The surrounding environs simply beckon to you, and the resort’s adventure experiences readily answer that call. For something casual, there are frequent guided hikes and mountain bike tours. For something a little more specialized, there are jeep outings, horseback riding excursions, hot-air balloon flights, snowshoeing jaunts, and much more. Of special note is the EQUUS Experience, a one-of-a-kind facilitated session with horses that prompts personal and professional discovery and transformation. Adventure Architect Hans Loehr oversees the property’s Adventure Center and crafts curated excursions to match outdoor enthusiasts’ every yearning. Guests also have ready access to the thriving arts, culture, and culinary scene of Santa Fe thanks to the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service that takes you right to the historic downtown plaza.
Taken altogether, Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe is no doubt the most sophisticated stay in the Land of Enchantment. Thanks to its recent thoughtful renovation, this unmatched desert oasis feels totally rejuvenated and revitalized — and will have you feeling the same way after a stay there.
