The rodeo world has lost a friend and role model with the passing of former Miss Rodeo Colorado Kellie Stockton. The Colorado native passed away Sunday, July 28, leaving behind a grieving rodeo community.
The Miss Rodeo Colorado organization took to social media to share their condolences, saying, “Our hearts are heavy tonight with the news of Kellie Stockton’s passing. Kellie was exceptionally kind, humble, and supportive. Always ready with a hug and a warm smile, there was no job she wasn’t eager to do. Kellie made everyone feel special and uplifted them when they needed encouragement. Our prayers go out to her family as they cope with this terrible loss.”

Kellie Stockton was more than just a rodeo queen; she was a beacon of kindness and community spirit. Her friend shared a heartfelt tribute, stating, “Kellie Stockton truly embodied the meaning of a rodeo queen. She was an incredible ambassador for rodeo and a fantastic Miss Rodeo Colorado… Praying hard for her sweet family, especially her sweet mama, as Kellie is in heaven with her Dad now.” These sentiments reflect the widespread admiration and affection that people had for Kellie.
Raised in the scenic area of Beulah, Kellie and her brother grew up on a ranch under the care of their parents, Jeff and Rebecca Stockton. Her early exposure to ranch life fostered a deep love for horses and rodeos, shaping her into a passionate and skilled equestrian. As a student at Pueblo County High School, Kellie excelled in barrel racing and pole bending, demonstrating her dedication and talent in these demanding events.
Her commitment to the rodeo circuit was matched by her academic aspirations. After graduating from high school, Kellie pursued higher education at Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo), where she nurtured a dream of teaching in a rural community. Her goal was to give back to the kind of environment that had so profoundly influenced her upbringing and values.
