The CW has lassoed rights to rerun the cancelled Hallmark Channel series.
There’s good news for viewers who were miffed when Hallmark Channel cancelled Ride earlier this year after a single season of ten episodes: The CW announced Tuesday plans to rerun the Western-themed series starting Jan. 22. Of course, it would be even better news if The CW had also revealed that a Season 2 was in the offing. But, hey, if the ratings are sufficiently impressive during encore airings, who knows?
Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing) leads the ensemble cast of the drama as Isabel McMurray, the widowed matriarch of a small-town Colorado ranching family that has loomed large on the rodeo circuit thanks to the accomplishments of her late husband and, more recently, her renowned champion son Austin. Early in the first episode, however, Austin suffers a fatal fall during a high-stakes bull riding competition — while, apparently, under the influence of a controlled substance. When the narrative picks up one year after the tragedy, Isabel and her extended family are still mourning Austin’s death — and struggling to hold on to the McMurray Ranch as they sink ever deeper into debt.
Other members of the cast include Tiera Skovbye (Nurses, Once Upon a Time), Beau Mirchoff (MTV’s Awkward), Sara Garcia (The Flash), Jake Foy (Designated Survivor), Tyler Jacob Moore (Shameless), and Marcus Rosner (unReal).
