The World's Oldest Rodeo kicks off its 121st year

Established July 4, 1888, in Prescott, Arizona, the World's Oldest Rodeo — known today as Prescott Frontier Days — is celebrating its 122nd anniversary June 29 through July 5 at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds.

Throughout the week, top professional rodeo athletes will compete for prize money in eight events, including bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Entertainment will be provided by the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls, the Barrel Clown and Act with Slim Garner, bullfighters Quirt Hunt and Mike Matt, and the Diamond Z English Shire Horses.

Additional events include the Happy Hearts Rodeo for Exceptional Children, a rodeo dance, and the Prescott Rodeo Days Fine Arts & Crafts Show, which will be held in downtown Prescott.

A parade and fireworks show are set for July 4. Tickets for admission to the Prescott Rodeo Grounds and to the day's rodeo performance are $12-$22.
