'Searchers' Director John Ford Gets A Stamp Of Approval

The late, great John Ford is one of four legendary filmmakers -- along with Frank Capra, John Huston and Billy Wilder -- who were honored today by the US Postal Service with the issuance of the Great Film Directors First-Class Forever stamps. The stamps are available nationwide, and can be purchased online, by calling 1-800-STAMP-24 (1-800-782-6724), or by visiting your friendly neighborhood post office. And while all four of the commemorative issues are real beauties, Cowboys & Indians readers might harbor a special hankering for the Ford -- because that stamp features a visual reference to John Wayne in the final scene of Ford's The Searchers.
