HBO wants more 'Luck'
So you have to ask yourself: Is HBO feeling lucky? And the answer: Definitely yes. After airing just one episode of Luck, the hot new series that premiered Sunday evening, decision-makers at the pay-cable network already have opted to order a second season of the racetrack drama created by David Milch (Deadwood), co-produced by Michael Mann (Miami Vice) and starring Dustin Hoffman, Nick Nolte, and Dennis Farina.
HBO made the announcement Tuesday, citing the drama's rave reviews and impressive ratings as incentives to act quickly. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the critical response to this beautiful piece of work,” said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, “and we are very excited about where David and Michael plan to take these incredible characters.”
Production on 10 Season 2 episodes is tentatively set to start next month, so Luck can return in January 2013. Meanwhile, the eight remaining Season 1 episodes will continue to air Sunday nights on HBO -- and we'll continue to offer morning-after re-caps.
