The Texas country icon is responding to the loss of loved ones with a fundraising event for others affected by the natural disaster.
In the wake of the recent Texas Hill Country flooding, Texas country star Pat Green — whose family is among the thousands that has suffered — is channeling his personal grief into positive action.
The celebrated singer-songwriter served as host for Pat Green and Friends: Texas Flood Relief Livestream, a special, non-ticketed benefit from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, at 6:30 p.m. CT/7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, July 16. No audience was in attendance, but a wide array of artists performed or appeared at the show streamed for free on YouTube in partnership with the Texas Rangers baseball team and REV Entertainment. You can watch the livestream here.
It was confirmed last week that Green’s younger brother John, John’s wife Julia and their two young sons perished during the July 4 flood of the Guadalupe River in Central Texas. They were four of the 134 people known to be lost so far. Over 100 men, women and children remain missing — many of them campers like Green’s family, who set out for a holiday weekend getaway.
Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi, Dierks Bentley, Corey Kent, Casey Donahew, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Josh Abbott, Ryan Bingham, Eli Young Band, Flatland Cavalry, Joe Nichols, Kaitlin Butts, Ty Myers, Kevin Fowler, Aaron Watson, Jon Wolfe and Bob Schneider took part in Pat Green and Friends: Texas Flood Relief Livestream, with more artists added before showtime.
All proceeds from the concert and livestream will be distributed to Kerr County Relief, TEXSAR and the Do It For Durrett Foundation via The Pat Green Foundation, directly benefiting the families affected by this devastating disaster.
