The North Carolina singer-songwriter debuts his latest single, “Write Me Off.”
The song: The single “Write Me Off” is on the new album Straight to Marrow, which was released on March 29.
About the artist: Since moving to Nashville in 2003, singer-songwriter Clint Alphin has drawn on his rural North Carolina roots to create rich, soulful, and harmonious Southern folk-rock. With a focus on honest and authentic music, Alphin delivers inspiring free-spirited performances.
About the song: Alphin says: “The idea for the chorus of this song was with me for a year or two, but the inspiration and impetus to write it didn’t happen until the 2018 Kerrville Folk Festival, just a couple months before it was recorded. As the character of the song cautions, things are often more than what they seem to be at first appearance.”
Why we like it: With its bountiful harmonies, bluesy guitar licks, and heartfelt lyrics, “Write Me Off” creates a romantic ambiance as it encourages listeners not to judge books by their covers. A reminder of that good advice and the song’s laid-back vibe make for a blissful listen.

About the music video: “JR Robles, a good friend I met through studying at Nashville Acting Studio, came to me with this video concept after hearing an early mix of the album, and we enlisted another NAS alumnus, Bob Daniel, to help us shoot and produce it,” Alphin says. “We had to shoot it in 7 – 8 hours, and it would never have been possible without the help and hard work of all the NAS actors, the musicians, and Amy and Daniel of Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge. Ryan King and Amanda Mantovani give fantastic performances and provide a ‘meet cute’ story just in time for tax season. Remember, IRS agents are people too!”
