Owen Crow Shoe and Tanya Beatty also appear in the ensemble drama now filming in Oregon.
C&I reader favorite and frequent cover star Wes Studi has joined Owen Crow Shoe (Joe Pickett, Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1) and Tanya Beatty (Yellowstone, Hostiles) for Timber Lands, an ensemble drama described as “a modern western” now filming in southern Oregon.
According to the Deadline website, “Set against the backdrop of Oregon’s vast timber industry, the Yellowstone-esque story follows two families with a deep-seated generational hatred for each other which comes to a head after the tragic death of one of the families’ celebrated bronc riders. At the center of it all, Russ (Studi), a man with deep ties to his native land, seeks to have the final word and bring about justice to a rivalry threatening to consume all they have left.”
Timber Lands was written and is being directed by Baylee Toney and Myles Clohessy. Consultants include the Klamath Tribes of Oregon and sponsors include Carhartt, American Hat Company and Seven Feathers Casino of the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe of Oregon.
Clohessy, who also co-stars in Timberlands, told Deadline the film is partly inspired by the Taylor Sheridan universe, but primarily by Toney’s family connection to the mill world in Oregon. Toney, Clohessy explained, understands the important lifeline the logging industry can provide for the area, but also recognizes negative impact it has had at times on Native American communities.
Other members of the cast include Irene Bedard (Smoke Signals, Alaska Daily), Kenneth Ruthardt (Longmire), Robert Clohessy (Blue Bloods), Baylee Toney (The Redeemer), Kim Jackson Davis (Zatima), and Thomas Parnell (Stressed to Kill).
