The country music family ensemble has released a new music video for “Send Me the Pillow You Dream On.”
Think of it a musical way of transforming a very bitter lemon into irresistibly sweet lemonade. Back during the COVID lockdown, Country Music Hall of Famer and Oak Ridge Boys member William Lee Golden got together with his sons to make the most of their enforced togetherness by forming a new group — William Lee Golden and The Goldens — to play and record enough of their favorite songs for no fewer than three albums: Southern Accents, Country Roads and Old Country Church.
“Going into the studio with my boys was a dream come true,” William Lee told us in March 2022. “At times, I wondered if it was ever going to happen. Now, after nearly two years since starting this project, what turned into a three-volume set will finally be available for the world to hear.”
Ever since the release of the three albums, William Lee and his offspring have periodically released music videos tied to the oldies-but-goodies they recorded. The latest: “Send Me the Pillow You Dream On,” their take on the classic Hank Locklin tune previously covered by such diverse artists as Roy Rogers, Dean Martin, Dolly Parton, Slim Whitman, and Pat Boone.
“We’ve always loved Hank Locklin’s song,” Golden told us last week. “And we think it’s the perfect love song — and the perfect music video — to share with folks on Valentine’s Day.”
