The Country Music Hall of Famer and his sons offer us a serenade — and a preview of their take on “Stand By Me” — while promoting their latest album release.
And the hits just keep on coming from William Lee Golden and The Goldens.
The last time we spoke to the Country Music Hall of Famer and Oak Ridge Boys member, William Lee told us all about how he and his sons — collectively known as The Goldens — made good use of their time together during the COVID lockdown by playing and recording enough of their favorite songs for no fewer than three albums. Southern Accents, the third of those group efforts after Country Roads and Old Country Church, will be released March 25. And they’ve already released their first single from the latest album, their take on “Take It Easy.”
“Going into the studio with my boys was a dream come true,” says William Lee. ”At times, I wondered if it was ever going to happen. Now, after nearly two years since starting this project, what turned into a three-volume set will finally be available for the world to hear. We actually went back into the studio to record ‘Take It Easy’ since this year marks the 50th Anniversary since its release with the Eagles.”
Another golden oldie on the Southern Accents album — the classic “Stand By Me” — can be heard here.
William Lee Golden and The Golden will promote the three-volume set of their albums Southern Accents, Country Roads and Old Country Church on Larry’s Country Diner at 7 pm CT Thursday, March 17th, and 10 pm CT Saturday, March 19, on RFD-TV. Before that, however, they Zoomed into the C&I Studio to chat — and to serenade us with a song from Country Roads, the classic “Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On.”
