HARDY and Lainey Wilson have the most nominations in this year’s competition.
Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood and Morgan Wallen are the stars who will be vying for the coveted Entertainer of the Year title during the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards , which Prime Video will stream live at 7 pm ET Thursday, May 11, from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks will serve as co-hosts for the event, which will be rerun in its entirety and available for free streaming Friday on Amazon Freevee.
The country music hitmaker known as HARDY leads the pack with seven ACM Awards nominations, including Song of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. He shares three of his nominations with fellow artist and collaborator Lainey Wilson for their song “Wait in the Truck.” Wilson received the most nods for a female artist with six nominations including Female Artist of the Year.
Close behind with five nominations each: Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Kane Brown and Cole Swindell. Lambert, the most-awarded artist in ACM history, received her record-breaking 17th Female Artist of the Year nomination (passing Reba McEntire with 16), as well as four other nominations. Lambert’s five nominations give her the opportunity to break more records following her Triple Crown Award presented at ACM Honors last fall.
Parton, who co-hosted the show last year with Gabby Barrett and Jimmie Allen, announced in a prepared statement: “I am thrilled to return to host the ACM Awards, this time with my friend Garth. While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with him throughout the years, I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together.”
And yes, Parton readily admitted, she has another incentive to be on stage for the occasion: “In addition to getting to see all this great new talent in country music, I am excited to have the chance to premiere the lead single from my upcoming rock album on the show!”
Added Brooks: “Anyone with Dolly Parton makes a fantastic couple.”
Other notables scheduled to perform live during ACM Awards include Lambert, Aldean, Brown, Combs, Cody Johnson, Jo Dee Messina, Ashley McBryde, Parton, Jelly Roll, Cole Swindell, Keith Urban, Wallen, The War And Treaty, Lainey Wilson, and Bailey Zimmerman.
