Country music singer-songwriter Joey Canyon promises an irresistible mix of programming on his new streaming platform.
Casting his net wide enough to include everything from classic TV Westerns like Bonanza to his very own variety show, country music singer-songwriter and media entrepreneur Joey Canyon has fulfilled his dream of establishing what he calls “a streaming wholesome family network,” Canyon Star TV.
Now available for accessing, the streaming platform aims to be the ultimate go-to service for classic movies, documentaries, musical and lifestyle programs, and thousands of hours of wholesome family entertainment. Along with exclusive content like programs showcasing dog behavioral expert Cheri Lucas and evangelist Lee Benton, thirty-nine episodes of The Joey Canyon Show — thirteen of which have never been aired before — and over 25 new original television shows that will soon begin production, Canyon Star TV offers documentaries on Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, ABBA, and The Beatles, and cooking shows that include Paula Dean’s Positively Paula, Justin Wilson Cajun Cookin’, and Jill’s Inspiration Kitchen. Also in the lineup: Popular shows such as Live at Billy Bob’s Texas, Shotgun Red Variety Show, My Life My Songs with Jimmy Fortune, Jimmy Bowen & Friends, The Penny Gilley Show, TruCountry with Heather Myles, Today’s Nashville, Hidden Heritage and more.
But wait, there’s more: You’ll also find classic Western movies (One-Eyed Jacks, The Deadly Companions, Yuma, The Sundowners and others) and TV series (including Bonanza, Gunsmoke and The Lone Ranger) on the Canyon Star TV platform.
“A little over five years ago,” Joey Canyon told C&I, “I had the idea that I needed to come up with a family-friendly television network — a live streaming network if you will. And that came after seeing many, many times while scrolling through the remote and cruising through there, and not seeing any content that really was worthwhile watching. It just was very frightening what television has gone to. And I felt that it was not only my duty, but my responsibility to come up with a network that would be a wholesome family network where parents could bring their family and their kids in front of the television and not be afraid of language and sexual situations and horror and gore and violence. So that’s the short version of how I came up with [Canyon Star TV].”
After years of discussions and planning, says Canyon Star TV president and co-founder Kelly Kantz, “I am beyond excited to see all of our hard work come to fruition. With the help of the wonderful producers and programmers, we have added fantastic programming and will continue to grow the outlet moving forward. I am very excited to share wonderful family-friendly programming with the world.”
The platform already is generating appreciative interest from notables such as T.G. Sheppard. “I have been waiting for something like this for years to come along that would help fill the void that The Nashville Network left behind,” Sheppard says. “Congratulations to Canyon Star TV for stepping up to the plate and offering additional exposure to the greatest music ever — country music.”
Joey Canyon recently appeared on The Ward Bond Show — which also is available on Canyon Star TV — to talk about his streaming platform.
