Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus are among the co-stars in the NBC special airing Dec. 1.
Tis the season to watch Dolly!
But you’ll have to wait until Dec. 1 to see the beloved entertainer in Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas, a special two-hour NBC TV-movie that also will feature appearances by Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus.

What’s it all about? Well, judging from the synopsis released by NBC, it sounds like this might be Dolly’s unique take on A Christmas Carol.
“A modern-day movie musical about the making of a network TV special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas is the frenetic backstage story and delightful on-camera results of Dolly’s desire to uplift an exhausted world’s spirits by sharing the unique mountain magic she has always found in and around Dollywood at Christmas.
“Throughout the movie’s production numbers and rehearsal chaos, Dolly finds herself taking a private journey into her past, guided by the mysterious appearances of her personal Three Wise Mountain Men. When it’s time for her big special to air, a renewed and inspired Dolly goes rogue and shows the world that the real magic of Christmas lies in the hearts of the children we all once were, the realization that Christmas is about the people we share it with, and how her faith remains the common thread between Christmases past, present, and future.”
Tom Everett Scott, Angel Parker and Ana Gasteyer also star in the movie, which was directed by Joe Lazarov (Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, The Waltons’ Thanksgiving) and written by David Rambo (Revolution, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation).
And if all of that isn’t enough to make Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas must-see TV for you, consider: During the movie, Dolly will sing two of very best songs: “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” You can’t beat that with a stick.
Speaking of “9 to 5,” we're still grooving on the duet Dolly recently recorded with Kelly Clarkson for the critically acclaimed documentary Still Working 9 to 5.
