The Austin-based Americana quartet premieres their music video for “Travel Light,” exclusively with C&I.
The song: The title track off the album Travel Light.
The band: The Texas-based group The South Austin Moonlighters — composed of Lonnie Trevino Jr., Phil Hurley, Daniel James, and Chris Beall —blends Southern rock, blues, and jazz for a distinctive twist on the Americana genre.
Singer Chris Beal says: “‘Travel Light’ is about recognizing the distractions we get ourselves burdened with. Life is tough — we don’t need to make it tougher. The lyrics show a family faced with a few bold choices; their decisions will change the way they are living.”
Why we like it: With scenes that alternate between live gigs of the South Austin Moonlighters, and convincing performances from a husband and wife balancing work, kids, and their marriage, the video compels you to watch as much as the music and its message invite you to appreciate those around you. And who doesn’t need to hear a little mandolin picking with this refrain: “Oh, oh, it’s gonna be all right. Put down your worries and travel light.”
