The western spoof will be available starting Friday on Netflix.
Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight won’t be in theaters until Christmas Day — but Adam Sandler’s The Ridiculous 6 will be available for streaming starting this weekend on Netflix, the same venue that offers House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and, of course, Longmire.
Co-written by Sandler and frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy, and directed by Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer), this broadly comical western spoof focuses on the efforts of Tommy “White Knife” Stockburn (Sandler) to rescue his kidnapped father, a notorious outlaw named Frank Stockburn (Nick Nolte). While searching for his dear old dad, Tommy discovers that he has five half-brothers — played by Larry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider and Luke Wilson — and asks for their help in locating and saving Frank.
Also featured in the cast: John Turturro as baseball inventor Abner Doubleday, sportscaster Dan Patrick as Abraham Lincoln, Vanilla Ice as Mark Twain, and, no kidding, Blake Shelton as Wyatt Earp.
But wait, there’s more: Steve Buscemi, Steve Zahn, Will Forte, David Spade, Harvey Keitel, Danny Trejo and Dan Aykroyd are among the other notables who pop up periodically in the comedy.
Here is a preview of The Ridiculous 6.
