We’ve partnered with a beloved artist for a special giveaway!
We love Dolan Geiman’s art at any time of year, but something about his bold señoritas and señores feels especially in keeping with the spirit of Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos. Observed this year from Thursday, October 31, through Saturday, November 2, the Mexican holiday marks the time of year when it’s believed the souls of deceased loved ones reunite with living relatives.
The reunion is celebrated with prayer, special memorial marigold-covered altars (ofrendas), graveside gatherings, and food and drink.
We think Geiman’s Vaquera Sudoeste would fit right in to the festivities.
“Everyone needs a guardian angel, even if she takes on a different form,” Geiman says. “This Vaquera is from a series of heroines created in paper collage. Inspired by a dose of religion, folktale, and myth, this gal will watch over your home or office and is a reminder of the strong female who is unstoppable, confident, and, yeah, … badass.”
