As Elizabeth “Liz” Strafford, she’s been enduring a lot on the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch. Is the worst yet to come?
The last time we talked with Michelle Randolph, co-star of the Paramount+ series 1923 and Landman, we spoke so much about House Cat, the animal rescue charity she helped establish, and her own beloved feline, we seriously expected to find her with a kitty perched on her lap when we dialed in for a video interview. That didn’t happen, unfortunately, but never mind: The lovely and talented actress is always fun to hang with, and that makes her the purr-fect interview subject.
Sorry about that — we couldn’t resist.
So far during Season 2 of 1923, Elizabeth Strafford, the character Randolph plays so impactfully well opposite Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and (as Jack Dutton, Liz’s fiancé) Darren Mann, has been having a tough time of it in and around the Dutton Ranch.

While still on the mend from the miscarriage she suffered near the end of Season 1, she’s been bitten by a rabid wolf, forced against her will to endure rabies shot, and driven to the point of vowing to leave the ranch and return to more “civilized” realms. Worse, she has seriously tried the patience of Cora Dutton (Mirren), a woman not known for her endless restraint.
What’s next in store for the poor Liz? Randolph knows, but — like all actors sworn to secrecy after signing on for a TV show produced by Taylor Sheridan — she deftly avoided spilling any beans about future plot developments during her visit to the C&I Studio.
