The new Taylor Sheridan-produced series is now shooting in Fort Worth.
Mustafa Speaks, last seen as survivalist/falconer Nate Romanowski in Joe Pickett, has entered the Taylor Sheridan Universe for a recurring role on Landman, the new Sheridan-produced Paramount+ series now filming in and around Fort Worth.
According to the showbiz site Deadline.com, Speaks — whose TV credits also include All-American and Seven Seconds — will portray Boss, “who’s tough-as-nails and has seen it all,” and is one of the more experienced roughnecks on the crew of oil company crisis manager Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton).
Speaks joins stars Thornton and Demi Moore in the drama, which is based on the well-received Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown that was written and hosted by Christian Wallace — who’s credited along with Sheridan as co-creator of Landman.
According to Paramount, “Landman is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
Other co-stars include Michelle Randolph of Sheridan’s 1923, who’ll play Ainsley Norris, Tommy’s wild and strong-willed 17-year-old daughter; and Jacob Lofland (12 Mighty Orphans) as Cooper Norris, who’s still accustoming himself to the demanding work in the oil and gas fields of West Texas.
Rounding out the cast: Ali Larter (The Last Victim), Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville) and Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia).
Landman is tentatively scheduled to premiere later this year on Paramount+.
