The Echo and Reservation Dogs star will take part in a special on-stage one-on-one discussion during the Austin event.
The C&I crew congratulates Echo, Reservation Dogs and Rutherford Falls star Devery Jacobs, who’s been selected to receive the 2024 Breakthrough Award given by the ATX TV Festival. The award, previously given to Pose star Angelica Ross and Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney, is described as a celebration of an individual “whose creative voice has made a substantial and unique impact on the current moment in TV, and whose work exemplifies the emotional, entertaining, and artistic possibilities of the medium.”
Jacobs, a First Nations actress of Mohawk ancestry, will be on hand during the May 30-June 2 festival in Austin for an on-stage one-on-one conversation to talk about her career so far, including acting, writing, producing, and directing, and her creative goals for the future. In addition to focusing on her television work, the conversation is expected to include comments about Backspot, an upcoming movie set in the high-pressure world of professional cheerleading. Jacobs serves as star and producer for the drama, which was well-received at its world premiere last fall at the Toronto Film Festival.
Among Jacobs’ other film and television credits: The Order, a 2019-2020 Netflix horror drama; Blood Quantum, an award-winning 2019 zombie apocalypse thriller starring Michael Greyeyes; and American Gods, a 2017-2021 fantasy TV series based on Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed 2001 novel.
