Listen up, Lonesome Dove fans! The contents of famed author Larry McMurtry's Archer City, Texas home will hit the auction block in San Antonio this May courtesy of Vogt Auction Galleries.
The genius behind Lonesome Dove, Terms of Endearment, and Brokeback Mountain passed away in March 2021 at the age of 84. Now, the contents of Larry McMurtry's lifelong home in Archer City, Texas are coming to auction, including his typewriters, writing desk, personal copies of his famous books, his guns, boots, artwork, furnishings, and more. The sale will be held at Vogt Auction Galleries in San Antonio, TX on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, and will include approximately 300 items.

The full auction catalog will be published May 5 at TexasAuction.com. The auction will take place on Monday, May 29, beginning at 1pm Central at Vogt’s auction facility at 7233 Blanco Road in San Antonio. Bids will be accepted live in person, live by telephone, live online, and by absentee bid.
Described in his New York Times obituary as the “Novelist of the American West,” McMurtry published more than 30 novels, winning an Academy Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
