The charismatic actor also will be seen next week in the INSP movie County Line: All In.
November 13-19 hasn’t been officially designated as Denim Richards Week. But, hey, it might as well be.
On Sunday, the engaging young actor returns as ranch hand Colby Mayfield in the two-part Season 5 premiere episode of Yellowstone. And just a few days later — Saturday, Nov. 19 to be precise — he’ll appear as poker-playing deputy sheriff Dante Hill in County Line: All In, a two-hour crime drama premiering at 8 pm ET on INSP.
The term “hot property” comes to mind while considering the rising career of the Orange County, California native, whose resume also includes episodes of the Freeform TV series Good Trouble, and a co-starring role opposite Martin Sensmeier, Dermot Mulroney and Tommy Flanagan in the Western film Montford: The Chickasaw Rancher. The latter project, now streaming on Netflix, proved to be an auspiciously well-timed one for Richards.
As he explained to Orange Coast Magazine: “I just filmed Chickasaw Rancher, a period piece set around 1860, where I played a real-life cowboy named Jack Brown. So when they sent me the (lines) for my character, Colby, in Yellowstone, it was easy for me to prepare for the role. I felt like I was playing Jack Brown’s great-great-grandson.”
It helped that Richards had been riding horses since childhood, and was able to look at home in the saddle during auditions for Taylor Sheridan’s top-rated Paramount Network drama. As the series has progressed, however, it’s helped just as much, if not more, that he quickly developed such richly amusing chemistry with co-star Jennifer Landon, a.k.a. Teeter.
We were pleased and privileged to chat with Denim Richards about his roles in Yellowstone and County Line: All In, and working with such seasoned pros as Kevin Costner and Tom Wopat, during his visit to the C&I Studio this week.
