Precisely refined by the West’s principal architects, the Double J Ranch offers absolute privacy, luxurious improvements, and fabulous recreation.
Owned by JJ Healy, the former vice president of acquisitions and ventures at Yahoo, the Double J is the manifestation of a longtime dream. After a lengthy search, Healy discovered a 3,430-acre property that had not had full-time occupants in 40 years. He called on John Carney of Carney Architects (now CLB Architects in Jackson Hole) and OSM Construction to collaborate and design a precisely refined property centered on the ranching lifestyle without sacrificing comfort and accessibility.
The main house boasts 5,800 square feet and has been described as “European rustic with a Western edge.” It includes iconic ranch home elements such as oxidized rusted metal, Montana moss rock, and rough sawed cedar siding, along with subtle nods to Healy’s Nantucket roots. A full sun analysis was conducted to determine where the sun fell on the house, and the home’s interior and exterior spaces were designed to flow with the seasons and light of the day. Floor to ceiling windows frame the views of the Wyoming and Wind River Mountain ranges and allow for a transparent flow between the inside and outside.

Down the hill from the main house, overlooking a picturesque pond, are six guest cabins and a cook house. The layout of the entire compound is designed for family and friends with the cabins oriented around the main home to welcome guests while maintaining their own privacy. Originally part of the Sagebrush Motel in Jackson, Wyoming, the cabins were constructed somewhere between 1930 and 1935. The cabins were moved from Jackson Hole to the Double J and transformed through cutting edge technology.

The Double J’s numerous outbuildings and equestrian facilities complement the striking home, adding functionality that serves the purposes of a working ranch. There are cattle handling facilities for 1,000 animals and equestrian facilities with a lighted arena. When the ranch work is done, there are fabulous recreation opportunities on the property including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowshoeing. The property also has 4.5 private river miles of fishing on Horse Creek and 1.25 miles of spring creek fishing, plus an aerated trout pond with an off-the-grid fishing cabin on the west side of the ranch.
Unmatched in today’s ranch market, the Double J Ranch is primed and ready for the next great land steward to take the reins.
