The Johnny Cash classic gets a new spin from The Oak Ridge Boy and his brood.
For the benefit of those who tuned in late: During the COVID lockdown, Country Music Hall of Famer and Oak Ridge Boy member William Lee Golden got together with his sons to form a new group — William Lee Golden and The Goldens — to play and record enough of their favorite songs for no fewer than three albums: Southern Accents, Country Roads and Old Country Church.
“Going into the studio with my boys was a dream come true,” William Lee told us earlier this year. ”At times, I wondered if it was ever going to happen. Now, after nearly two years since starting this project, what turned into a three-volume set will finally be available for the world to hear.”
In September 2021, C&I premiered the music video for a cut from the Southern Accents album: “Four Walls,” the group’s distinctive take on the Jim Reeves classic. And now we’re proud to premiere another music video from William Lee and his boys: “I Still Miss Someone,” their deeply affecting version of the plaintive tune co-written and originally recorded by Johnny Cash.
“We not only recorded over 30 tracks for our Golden Classics three-album set,” said William Lee, “we also recorded a video for almost every one. Over the next year, all of these videos will be released — and so far, everyone has loved them! Thank you to Cowboys & Indians for premiering “I Still Miss Someone” and for all of the support you have given us.”
