Get ready for the next hour of Must-See TV: Dark Winds, the gripping neo-noir mystery drama based on the Leaphorn and Chee novels by Tony Hillerman, will premiere at 9 pm ET Sunday, June 12, on AMC.

C&I reader favorite Zahn McClarnon stars as Joe Leaphorn, the dedicated lawman in charge of a Tribal Police outpost in a remote corner of the Navajo Nation in 1971. In the course of the six-episode limited-run series, Leaphorn investigates a local double murder — and, maybe, connect it to a big-city bank robbery — with the help of a trusted associate, Sgt. Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten), and a possibly untrustworthy new deputy, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon).
By the way: Each episode of Dark Winds also will be available on AMC+, with AMC+ subscribers having advance access to an additional episode each week.
In this scene from the series premiere of Dark Winds, Chee shows up for his first day on the job — but doesn’t really make a strong first impression on Leaphorn or Manuelito.
