The much-lauded character actress shines in the new Prime Video drama.
Even if you don’t recall her name, you likely will recognize her face. Lili Taylor has been working steady in stage, screen and television productions since the 1980s, earning acclaim and awards for her work in such movies as Mystic Pizza, Say Anything, Dogfight, Household Saints, Rudy, and High Fidelity, and TV movies and miniseries such as Six Feet Under, Hemlock Grove, American Crime, and the HBO reboot of Perry Mason.
Starting April 15, however, you will start to see Lili in a different light, as part of the exceptional ensemble cast of Outer Range, a boldly fantastical Prime Video drama that, as we’ve previously noted, plays like a mix of Yellowstone and Twin Peaks.
In the series, she gives a riveting performance as Cecilia Abbott, the deeply religious wife of Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a Wyoming farmer who is driven to extremes as they cope with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law — and the appearance of a mysterious portal on their land. Cecilia finds her faith sorely tested as she contemplates the possibility that they’re dealing with something… well, ungodly.
We spoke with Lili during the recent virtual junket for Outer Range. But be forewarned: Like everyone else involved with the series, she has to keep some secrets to herself.
