The country music singer-songwriter and popular SiriusXM Satellite radio personality previews the first single from his upcoming album Coldwater, Tennessee.
Dallas Wayne has a pretty sweet gig, and he knows it.
The award-winning country singer-songwriter, radio DJ, actor, and voiceover artist gets to play music he loves and interview people he respects and admires six days a week on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. And, obviously, he’s doing something right: He attracts a large and loyal audience from 12 noon to 6 pm ET Monday through Friday, and from 10 am to 12 noon ET Sunday, at Willie’s Roadhouse (Channel 59), and from 10 am to 12 noon ET at Outlaw Country (Channel 60).
When Dallas is not in the radio studio, you might find him in the recording studio. He recently completed Coldwater, Tennessee — his first album since his well-received Songs the Juke Box Taught Me (2018) — and is about to release his first single from new effort, “I Hit the Road (And the Road Hit Back).” Brazenly rowdy yet unabashedly honest in its description of life as a journeyman musician, it’s a worldly wise and wonderfully catchy honky-tonk anthem with lyrics that should be stenciled on a poster or stitched into a sampler to hang in every country artist’s tour bus: “Thought I knew it all, but I didn’t know Jack. I hit the road, and the road hit back.”
Dallas switched over from interviewer to interviewee when we recently talked with him in the C&I Studio.
And here is the exclusive C&I premiere of “I Hit the Road (And the Road Hit Back).”
