The Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe goes virtual with its folk art auction just in time to hunt for one-of-a-kind Christmas presents.
From November 19 to 22, the Friends of Folk Art, in partnership with the Museum Foundation, will be hosting an online auction of folk art, fine art, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Designed to appeal to a range of budgets, the auction includes 160-plus items from around the world, from intricately crafted jewelry, textiles, and clothing to Native American pottery and folk art paintings. Some of the unusual experiences on offer include vacation home stays and nights at the luxury Inn of the Five Graces, dinner with Santa Fe celebrity chefs, and a VIP tour of the private museum vaults with Museum of International Folk Art executive director Khristaan Villela.
Proceeds from the World of Treasures auction will go toward underwriting Folk Art Kits that the Museum of International Folk Art has been distributing to children who are learning virtually right now, in partnership with the Santa Fe Public Library. The kits include all of the materials that children need to create their own folk art projects. So far more than 3,800 kits have been distributed. Funds will also help support the development of online learning programs.
