To continue connecting with fans while tours and gigs are postponed, artists including Willie Nelson, Béla Fleck, B.J. Barham, and many others are moving their concerts online.
Circumstances have been tough on musicians who count on revenue from live shows. Of course, fans can help support their favorite bands and solo artists by buying their records and merchandise. Another way to show support and enjoy the spontaneity of a live performance is by enjoying virtual performances. Some of our favorite musicians are streaming shows on their websites, social media platforms, Twitch, Stage It, and other online platforms. We are collecting a list of shows that will be of particular interest to C&I readers in a weekly post.
And hey, on the bright side, you won’t have to pay for parking, shell out $11 for a beer, or worry about getting stuck behind a tall concertgoer blocking your view.
Tonight (Thursday, March 19) has an especially exciting virtual show, as Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion has moved from Willie’s backyard to your headphones or speakers and monitor. Even better for fans, it’s free. You’re (virtually) in Luck at 6 p.m. CDT at the Luck Reunion website or its Twitch stream.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the Grand Ole Opry will return to its roots as a live broadcast without an audience. If you’re not within range of the WSM-AM 650 broadcast, you can catch it Saturday night on the Opry or WSM website or mobile apps.
Here are the details for those virtual shows and many others that should appeal to C&I readers. Let us know about other shows we should list via social media, or email senior editor Jesse Hughey.
