The Circuit of the Americas calls Austin home.
Formula One flaunts the fastest cars and drivers in the world — and since 2012, they’ve descended upon the capital of Texas for a spin around the Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix.
Similar to the Indianapolis 500, Formula One races feature open-wheel cars, which are sleeker, lighter, and faster than the stock cars of NASCAR. Historic luxury brands like Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren design open-wheelers specifically for iconic races like the Monaco Grand Prix, which has helped establish Formula One as a fixture of European sport since its inaugural championship season in 1950.
When the Circuit of the Americas opened on the outskirts of Austin’s city limits, it became the first “purpose-built” track ever constructed for Formula One in the United States.
The 2019 United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas will take place November 1 – 3 in Austin and feature concert performances by Imagine Dragons and Pink.
