Robert Redford serves as executive producer for the drama starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Connie Britton and Bruce Dern.
The 2019 Sundance Film Festival is weeks away, but one of the world premieres on the program has already caught our attention: Director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s The Mustang, a Focus Features release starring Matthias Schoenaerts (Red Sparrow, Rust and Bone), Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton) — and C&I reader favorite Bruce Dern.
The official synopsis: “Roman (Schoenaerts), a convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his violent past, is required to participate in an “outdoor maintenance” program as part of his state-mandated social rehabilitation. Spotted by a no-nonsense veteran trainer (Dern) and helped by an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider (Mitchell), Roman is accepted into the selective wild horse training section of the program, where he finds his own humanity in gentling an especially unbreakable mustang.”
Robert Redford serves as executive producer for The Mustang, which will kick off its theatrical release on March 15. Here is an advance look at the trailer.
