Teddy Roosevelt would approve.
After reaching the Powder River in Montana territory in August 1884, on one of his many Western adventures, Theodore Roosevelt wrote to his friend Henry Cabot Lodge, “I heartily enjoy this life, with its perfect freedom, for I am very fond of hunting, and there are few sensations I prefer to that of galloping over these rolling limitless prairies, with rifle in hand, or winding my way among the barren, fantastic and grimly picturesque deserts of the so-called Bad Lands.”
When it comes to hunting the West, we tip our rough-riding caps to the old bull moose himself, who it’s claimed once hunted the lands of one of the prime properties we’ve featured in this month’s real estate roundup. From Big Sky, Montana, all the way down to West Texas, these are the ranches that offer big game hunting for the Teddy bear in us all.
