The story of heroic pilot Chesley Sullenberger will land in theaters Sept. 9.
Back when we first heard that Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks would be collaborating on a project, we thought the pairing was a match made in movie heaven. And now that Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Sully — the true-life story of heroic pilot Chesley Sullenberger, set to open Sept. 9 at theaters and drive-ins everywhere — we’re even more eager to see the handiwork of these two Hollywood heavyweights.
The official plot summary: “On Jan. 15, 2009, the world witnessed the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ when Captain ‘Sully’ Sullenberger (Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.”
Eastwood directed the film from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki, based on the book Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.
You’ll soon be reading more about Sully in C&I. Until then — well, just take a look at this terrific trailer.
