The video streaming service has reassembled the cast for season four.
The wait is over (almost) for Longmire fans: Netflix announced Tuesday that new episodes of the modern-day western drama starring Robert Taylor as lawman Walt Longmire, will be available for viewing September 10.
As you may recall, the series — based on Craig Johnson’s mystery novels — ran for three seasons on the A&E Network. When it was canceled — reportedly in part due to its older-skewing demographics — Netflix stepped in to green-light a 10-episode fourth season.
According to Netflix, season four will use the season three finale cliffhanger as a jumping-off point. Faithful viewers will recall that episode ended with Deputy Branch (Bailey Chase) confronting his manipulative father (Gerald McRaney). A gunshot capped off their angry encounter — so, presumably, the season four premiere episode will let us know who, if anyone, got shot, and whether the gunfire was fatal. Meanwhile, Walt appears ready to go on the rampage after learning who was behind his wife’s murder.
In addition to Taylor and Chase, series regulars Lou Diamond Philips (Henry Standing Bear), Katee Sackhoff (Victoria “Vic” Moretti), Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman (Cady Longmire), Louanne Stephens (Ruby) and Derek Phillips (Travis Murphy) also will be back in action when Longmire returns September 10.
