Middlekauff likes to say, “My collectors have more fun.” And that fun directly reflects the fun Chuck has in his studio, painting to an eclectic assortment of rock and roll and country tunes from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Lately he has been pushing the envelope of fun as he creates what he calls “paintings of paintings in progress,” leaving some details unfinished so the viewers can see the underlying drawing, then splashing, splattering, and dripping bright colors across the whole canvas, and finally painting images of paint brushes, art tools and other clutter that usually accumulate on his paintings as he works.

Chuck has 12-15 new works underway, and they’re to remain a secret. This bit of one of the paintings is all he will reveal before the show. Chuck will be present for the opening reception from 5-7:00 pm on September 6, 2019. The show will continue through September 26.
