“Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures, Volume One” Book Signing with Beau L’Amour at Sorrel Sky Gallery

DESCRIPTION

Sorrel Sky Gallery is pleased to announce a very special book signing with Beau L’Amour during Noel Night on December 1, 2017, at its downtown location, 828 Main Ave from 5:00-9:00 pm. Beau will be signing copies of his much anticipated “Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures, Volume One,” to be released October 24, 2017. “Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures, Volume Two” will be released in 2019.

Beau L’Amour has spent close to fifteen years reading, organizing, researching and reconstructing his father’s handwritten notes, journal entries and correspondence. A journey of discovery and exploration, “Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures, Volume One and Volume Two,” reveal the versatile and dynamic style of one of America’s favorite authors. Much more than just a Western writer, this collection of L'Amour's unpublished works includes selections ranging from a horror novel, the Middle Eastern adventures of a swashbuckling archeologist, a story of the American Revolution, as well as a saga of reincarnation covering the period from Alexander the Great and into the era of Warlord China.

Likening the experience to detective work, with a “whatever it takes” mindset, Beau has created a story within a story. Now more aware than ever of the subtleties of how profoundly interesting and talented his father was, Beau observed that the work an author does not finish often reveals more about them than the work that they do finish. “Beginning things is easier than ending them. The most ambitious, the most difficult to work out, the most personal, the ghosts … they may never become concrete.” Mixing his father’s writings with a series of personal essays expressing his in-depth knowledge of his father’s life, memories and experiences in the publishing business, Beau offers L’Amour fans insights into the author’s method of developing a story, and his personal struggle as a writer working to achieve success. Illustrated with rare photographs and examples of handwritten notes, this book reveals a L’Amour never before known, a literary legacy too big for one life to contain.

Owner Shanan Campbell Wells anticipates warm support from the local community. “The L’Amour family has long, established ties to Durango and its surrounding towns, creating a special connection to Louis’s stories. I’m so pleased and honored to have Beau with us for this signing. Truly a tribute to his father and his great talent as a writer.”
