For Mother’s Day, C&I talked with some of our favorite country stars about their memories of Mom.
Carly Pearce
One of my earliest memories was my mom and I going to my first concert together, which was Wynonna. She bought me a brand-new outfit — cowboy boots and a hat — and we had the best time.
My mom has always been the one who encouraged my country music dreams and continues to be my greatest cheerleader.

She was booking me in bars. I was playing Texas. So my mom was like my booking agent. She was working with me, and she was kind of like my boss in a way, and I hated that.
Because she was also my boss in life because she’s my mom. And so that was a tough time. But we’re also one of those families where we can just get in a huge screaming match and five minutes later, I love you, you know it. We’re not one of those, like, stay-mad-for-a-long time kind of people.
Brandon Ratcliff
I’ve had so many amazing memories throughout the years with my mom, but I’d have to say sharing the stage with her for my Grand Ole Opry debut takes the cake. Growing up, I got to go to the Opry a lot with my mom and her band.
Never once did I think I’d have the honor of bringing my mom up on that legendary stage with me, it was a full-circle moment. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
Adam Mac
I have too many favorite memories to count, but something I’ve always been extra-thankful for is how my mom would always push me to perform whether that be at church, at home, or a talent show. She was always doing everything she could to allow me the space to express myself, even if that meant sometimes bribing me to put on a show, I’m sure thankful she did.
Becca Bowen
One of my favorite memories with my mom is when we were living in New York for a few months. I happened to be pursuing my dreams of music. I was walking past a dress shop with her and asked if I could go look at the dresses. When we walked in, I saw this beautiful sequined turquoise dress.
My mom looked at me and said,
“If you make it to the CMA Awards, is that the dress you would want to wear?”
I kind of giggled and said, “Well, that would be nice,” not thinking anything of it. She took the dress off the rack and walked up to the register and purchased it.
I looked at her and said, “Why did you buy that?” She turned to me and said, “Because one day you are going to make it to the CMA Awards, and you will need something to wear” with the biggest grin on her face. Right then, my mom planted a dream in my heart. She was letting me know that she believed in me and that I was capable of reaching my dreams. That was one of the best memories that I shared with her as a child. I will never forget that moment.

I am lucky enough to call my mom a best friend, so the memories are endless! A favorite that comes to mind is watching TV in her room with her every night when I was younger.
We would do nails, watch my big sister’s fashion shows for the next school day, work on show material, and talk about life with NYPD Blue in the background. I would always fall asleep in her bed, and we still laugh about how my poor dad had to pick me up dead asleep and carry me to my own bed until I was about 13! I cherish those bedtime memories.
Donice Morace
My mom has always been just a casual baseball fan up until about three years ago, when she decided to start watching Astros games with me.
She’s so animated watching them that I couldn’t wait for her to witness a game in person. Last year on my birthday, I got that chance to take her to Minute Maid Park to watch her first Astros game in person.
Johnny Dailey
I wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom. Some of my favorite memories with her are Sunday lunches around the kitchen table. The cooking was out of this world, and there was a lot learned about life that I still carry with me today. Thanks, Mom.
Liddy Clark
I loved getting to visit NYC with my mom in 2017. We got to visit the iHeart studios together and ate burgers and milkshakes at Black Tap.
We also got to see Hamilton for the first time! It was such an unforgettable trip!
