The new series starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell will premiere March 14 on Paramount+.
Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan may be cutting ties with Paramount+ at the end of 2028, but that doesn’t mean the streamer is losing faith in the mega producer’s ability to continue producing hits like Landman, 1923, and Tulsa King. Indeed, The Madison, Sheridan’s latest series, doesn’t premiere until March 14, but Paramount reportedly has already completed shooting Season 2 of the new drama starring Michelle Pfeiffer and C&I reader favorite Kurt Russell.
Mind you, Season 1 will be shorter than is usual for a Sheridan series — six episodes — but who knows? If a sufficient number of viewers tune in to watch The Madison, Season 2 could magically become Part 2 of Season 1.
What’s it all about? According to a press release issued Friday by Paramount, The Madison is “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation.” It is said to be “Sheridan’s most intimate work to date, unfolding across two distinct worlds — the beautiful landscape of Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan — as it examines the ties that bind families together.”
Season 1, Paramount announced, “is a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River Valley of central Montana.”

Earlier published reports indicated Season 1 will focus on Stacy Clyburn (Pfeiffer), the wealthy matriarch of a family who heads to Montana from New York City following the death of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash.
In addition to Pfeiffer and Russell, the cast of The Madison also includes Beau Garrett (Firefly Lane), Elle Chapman (A Man Called Otto), Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Alaina Pollack (The Surrender), Ben Schnetzer (3 Body Problem), Kevin Zegers (Power), Rebecca Spence (Lady in the Lake), Danielle Vasinova (1923) and Matthew Fox (Lost).
Fun fact: The Madison will debut on Paramount+ two weeks after the premiere of Marshals, a spin-off from Yellowstone, on CBS. The latter series has Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton, with the character now working as a U.S. marshal in Montana. Is it possible there will be crossovers between the two shows? (Remember, Paramount and CBS are owned by the same folks.)
And what about the other Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, which brings back Keilly Reilly and Cole Hauser as, respectively, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler? That show doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but you can catch a fleeting glimpse of it — along with an even briefer look at The Madison — in This Year on Paramount, the 75-second teaser trailer narrated by Cara Dutton herself, Helen Mirren.
