More good news: C&I cover star Billy Bob Thornton has been nominated for a CCA Best Actor prize.
On Tuesday, our current issue featuring a cover story profile of Landman star Billy Bob Thornton hit newsstands. On Friday, Paramount+ announced that, even before the fourth Season 2 episode of the Taylor Sheridan-produced series premiered, Landman had been renewed for a third season. Also on Friday, the Critics Choice Association announced that Thornton had been nominated as Best Actor in a Drama Series for the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards.
Coincidence? We don’t think so.

Actually, the early pickup by Paramount+ was pretty much a no-brainer, considering how many folks are watching Landman. The second season of the show premiered on Sunday, November 16, and is set to be a top three series among all original content for the week of November 17, and a top two series for the week of November 24, according to Nielsen preliminary data.
Season 2 also smashed viewership records for Paramount+, achieving over 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days on the platform. Views increased by 262 percent from the first season premiere, making it the most watched premiere ever for any original series for Paramount+.
New episodes of Landman continue to debut exclusively on Paramount+ each Sunday through January 18.
As for the Critics Choice Awards: Winners will be announced during the Critics Choice Awards gala, which will be hosted by Chelsea Handler and broadcast live on E! and USA Network on Sunday, January 4, from 7 to 10 p.m. ET from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
