The two-part documentary arrives just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.
Billed as a behind-the-scenes look at a complex story of triumphs and tragedies across several decades, The Judd Family: Truth Be Told will be presented on the Lifetime cable network during Mother’s Day Weekend. The two-part documentary will air at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11.
The Propagate Content production follows Naomi Judd (then known as Dianna) from her humble beginnings in Kentucky as a young teen mother, struggling to survive with her young daughters, Wynonna (born Christina Claire Ciminella) and Ashley.
The Judd Family: Truth Be Told recounts how the famous country music mother-daughter duo of Naomi and Wynonna Judd came to be, and where Ashley — an award-winning actress whose movie credits include Ruby in Paradise, Heat, A Time to Kill and Dolphin Tale — stood at the height of Naomi and Wynonna’s fame.
“Untold truths emerge, illustrating what tied them together, and what also drove them apart,” according to the Lifetime press announcement.
Throughout two evenings, The Judd Family: Truth Be Told features intimate interviews with many Judd family members, including Wynonna, Ashley, and Naomi’s widower, Larry Strickland, and some of Naomi’s closest friends and colleagues, including Reba McEntire and Don Potter.
Lifetime promises: “Exclusive access to rare family footage and photos, unreleased songs, and voicemails that the Judd women left for one another further illustrate the unique relationship between mothers and daughters, the cyclical nature of generational trauma, and the strength of familial bonds.”
