The Starship Troopers star plays a gunslinger seeking to escape his violent past in the indie western now available on digital platforms and in limited theatrical release.
Just how versatile is Casper Van Dien?
Consider: The prolific Florida-born actor has played everything from a heroic soldier leading the charge against extraterrestrial insects in the sci-fi cult-fave Starship Troopers (1997) to a Civil War vet turned outlaw gang leader in the INSP western The Warrant (2020), from the titular tree-swinger on a crusade to aid beleaguered African villagers in Tarzan and the Lost City (1998) to a motivational speaker who reconsiders his atheism while facing off against The Antichrist in the faith-based drama The Omega Code (1999).
His credits also include roles opposite Jane Seymour in two 1999 episodes of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Ernest Borgnine and Bruce Boxleitner in Aces ‘n’ Eights (2008), Eddie Griffith and Danny Trejo in All About the Money (2017), and Tom Wopat in County Line: No Fear (2022).

And now Van Dien is riding tall in Guns of Redemption, director Brian Skiba’s action-packed indie western now available on digital platforms and in limited theatrical release. The movie finds him perfectly cast as a former Confederate Army soldier who’s seeking redemption for his wartime sins in the post-Civil War frontier, but must strap on his guns again to fight the sadistic operator of a traveling brothel (Jeff Fahey).
We were pleased and privileged to recently talk with Casper Van Dien in the C&I Studio.
