Paramount+ has released a new trailer for the Yellowstone prequel.
“Anything worth having is worth fighting for!” That’s the mantra of Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren), as she steels herself to join her husband Jacob Dutton (Harrison) while defending their Yellowstone Ranch against the minions of landgrabber Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) in the new trailer for Season 2 of 1923.
But even Cara — who already has at least one notch on her belt — feels a bit out of place as the serious shooting begins. “Of all the things I have had to do for this ranch,” she says while taking aim through her gunsight, “this takes the cake.”
What Cara and Jacob really need, of course, is a little help from their itinerant nephew, Spencer (Brandson Sklenar), who’d been hunting big game and wooing the beautiful Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer), a free-thinking beauty also known as The Countess of Sussex, on the other side of the world.

The trailer indicates that, even though his return to Montana was interrupted — as we saw in the Season 1 Finale, he was booted off the ocean liner on which he and Alexandra were traveling after he inadvertently killed her ex-fiancé — Spencer is still homeward bound after being summoned by Cara. And, just as important, eager for a reunion with Alexandra.
As for Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) — evidently an ancestor of Yellowstone’s Chief Thomas Rainwater — she appears fleetingly in the trailer, apparently still on the run after killing two of the more sadistic teachers at the Indian Residential School where she had been held against her will. She, too, is heading home — and appears just as capable as Cora when she has to defend herself.
1923 will return for its second and reportedly final season February 23 on Paramount+. Here’s the official trailer for the series
