Bailey Chase, Neal McDonough and Dawn Olivieri struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic thriller.
Is it the end of the world as we know it? Or will veterans of C&I reader favorite TV series save survivors of a nuclear catastrophe? That’s the arresting premise of Homestead, an upcoming thriller starring Bailey Chase (Longmire), Neal McDonough (Justified, Yellowstone) and Dawn Olivieri (1883, Yellowstone), and directed by Ben Smallbone (Priceless, Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon). Set to open Dec. 20 in theaters nationwide, the film is based on the best-selling Black Autumn book series by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross, and produced by Angel Studios, the same outfit behind the global blockbuster Sound of Freedom and the acclaimed WWII-era biopic Bonhoeffer.
What’s it all about? According to Angel Studios: “A nuclear bomb is detonated in Los Angeles, and the nation devolves into unprecedented chaos. Ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson [Bailey Chase] and his family escape to The Homestead, an eccentric prepper’s fortress nestled in the mountains. As violent threats and apocalyptic conditions creep toward their borders, the residents of The Homestead are left to wonder: How long can a group of people resist both the dangers of human nature and the bloodshed at their doorstep?”
But wait, there’s more: Angel Studios will launch the companion Homestead: Family Survival series exclusively on Angel.com and the Angel App on Dec. 20.
“I’m always a fan first when it comes to Angel films,” says Jeffrey Harmon, co-founder of Angel Studios. “I’m excited to see a hope-filled, family apocalypse story hit the screens — because isn’t God always doing something incredible, even during tough times? Homestead goes on a wild ride through the crash of civilization, only to reveal that family, community, and love are the ultimate survival advantage.”
