Celebrity scents from Bella Hadid, Charlotte Tilbury, and Michelle Pfeiffer join sure things from Tru Western, Ranger Station, and more.
If you feel that the Western women in your life deserve only the best for birthdays, graduations, and other special occasions, look no further. We've rounded up some of the finest fragrances in the West and beyond. Read on for ideas, and get going on those gifts. You don't want to show up empty handed.
Rodeo Soul
Notes: Golden Pear, Jasmine, Musk Crystals, Praline, and Cedarwood Virginia
Tru Western is known for its high-profile scent collaborations, with the Yellowstone team, with Professional Bull Riders, and of late, with Wrangler. Rodeo Soul is one of Tru's new standalone creations, worthy of your attention if you're looking for a fresh, fruity, and evocative perfume. It's an easy wear throughout the year, not the slightest bit tacky but still makes an impression with that crisp pear note. Great for the no-nonsense Western mamas.
Cowgirl Grass
Notes: Bergamot peel, pink geranium, lychee, peony, flowering grass, jasmine water, vetyver, amber crystals, soft musk
Upscale scent brand D.S. & Durga already had Cowboy Grass, which we love for its intense, complex green notes. Now the makers have decided to revive its companion Cowgirl Grass as a Neiman Marcus exclusive just in time for the outdoor-friendly seasons. We can confirm from real-world testing that the grassy notes here are less intense than the Cowboy version. It settles into an almost luxurious, addictive dry-down.
Daisy | A Perfume by Lauren Akins
Notes: Ambergris and sandalwood are the dominant notes.
The Nashville house Ranger Station released Daisy and its counterpart, Cowboy, as part of a collaboration with Lauren Akins, philanthropist, fragrance enthusiast, and spouse of country star Thomas Rhett. Some proceeds from sales go to the Love One International charity. Daisy is subtle, almost like a "clean skin but better" effect to its own wearer, but others pick up on the richness of the aforementioned notes. It grows on you. Find out more here.
Kendra Scott
How exciting is it that the noted jewelry designer and entrepreneur Kendra Scott (who contributed to past C&I gift guides) has entered into the fragrance space? While we've not yet sampled them, we can tell you there are three somewhat self-explanatory eau de parfum releases: Amber Aura, Ruby Musk, and Jade Blossom. All are well-reviewed and seem worthy of a self-made Western matriarch.
‘Ôrəbella
Model and equestrian Bella Hadid has just this week launched ‘Ôrəbella, led by a compelling trio of personal fragrances that incorporate natural scent profiles and pack potent essential oils for added therapeutic benefits. The scents — the sheer floral Window2Soul, the woody marine Salted Muse, and the warm floral Blooming Fire — are shaken before spraying to activate the full effect. They're affordable, in demand, and brand new, so any fragrance lover in your family would swoon over a set of all three. It's worth your time to watch Bella explain the inspiration and application of her new signature scents.
Henry Rose
Michelle Pfeiffer is the star and the perfume enthusiast behind this cruelty-free, hypoallergenic line of personal and home fragrances. At this point there's a scent for every taste in the collection, but for a beloved matriarch type, we'd recommend the intoxicatingly spicy vanilla bomb that is Torn. It leaves a lasting impression.
Infiniment Coty Paris
The 14 fragrances launched by the legendary Coty brand this year come in sustainably crafted bottles, but the perfumes within are the height of luxury and refinement, direct from Paris. This is for the mother who has everything. Our favorite of the line is J'Ai Trois Amours. Its description by Coty is apt: "A dance of elation whisked away by love at first sight. Head-over-heels, and the unquenchable desire to embrace the world in laughter unleashed. Notes of banana blossom, delectably chypre. Passion poised on the precipice of joy."
Charlotte Tilbury
Noted makeup and skincare brand Charlotte Tilbury ("Darlings!") has just released its inaugural line of perfumes, all in colorful, whimsical bottles with evocative names. The six creations are described as a "collection of emotions." Whoa. The good news for anyone unwilling to blind-buy a perfume: There's an attractive gift sample set available. Spend Mother's Day afternoon picking her signature scent from the bunch.
