Since 1911, Tony Lama has resiliently upheld the finest traditions with a time-honoring commitment to quality.
TONY LAMA TRADITIONS – From when Tony Lama's family was running the boot factory to more than a century later, one thing remains constant — experienced craftsmanship.
Ever wonder how the bootmaking process happens? It’s safe to say Lama has perfected every step. From cutting delicate leathers to lasting, expert bootmakers put more than 130 steps into crafting each pair of boots. To ensure excellency, Tony Lama product developers and designers regularly meet with exclusive leather and material vendors to guarantee exceptional quality. Their high-quality materials are not the only thing that sets them above the crowd.
Tony Lama’s expert artisans, who pour their hearts and souls into perfecting the craft, make all the difference. Most have proudly made boots for over a decade, while some have dedicated their entire careers to perfecting their craft and instilling the legacy that Tony Lama started years ago. Their dedication to the art is unmatched. From the custom line supervisor to the cleaner, retoucher, and packer, their passions elude esteem.
This excellence started from the beginning when Tony Lama became an apprentice and quickly learned the ways of bootmaking by joining the U.S. Cavalry as a cobbler crafting boots for the soldiers. It wasn’t long before Tony’s reputation of crafting custom boots spread across the southwest, attracting cowboys and ranchers from around the area, and thus the iconic brand was born. Although many Lama generations have passed on, you can still find Tony Lama Sr.’s legacy living on today through his grandson, Joe Lama, who still works as a leather purchaser at the company.
When you slip on a pair of Tony Lama's boots, you are stepping into a legacy. A legacy of building a name for yourself. A legacy for innovating and evolving when the odds are against you. A legacy for never throwing in the towel.
