The country music star shares words and music during the concert event.
Viewer alert: Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Darius Rucker will share some of the stories behind the songs that have made him a household name Wednesday evening on CMT. The one-hour CMT Storytellers: Darius Rucker concert event will feature a passel of never-before-heard tales about how the country icon’s smash hits came to be, in addition to performances of songs from throughout his solo career.
But wait, there’s more: The special also will devote time to Rucker’s time as front man for the Platinum-selling rock band Hootie & The Blowfish.
Billed as an up-close and intimate look at Rucker’s songwriting process and life in show business, CMT Storytellers: Darius Rucker premieres Wednesday at 10 pm ET/9 pm CT. Encores airings are scheduled on CMT at 11 pm ET/10 pm on Wednesday and 12 pm ET/11 am CT Sept 4, and on CMT Music at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT Sept. 9, and 10 am ET/9pm CT and 6 pm ET/5 pm CT Sept. 10.
“There have been so many nights,” Rucker says, “when someone comes up to me after a show and tells me what a song means to them, when they first heard it, or how it became a song at a pivotal moment in their life, played at a wedding or even a memorial.
“The way music connects and how the story evolves for each person differently is perhaps the coolest aspect of music, which is what makes a show like CMT Storytellers so special, as I think we can always use more moments of connection.”
