With Chuck Taylors on his feet and inspirational signs in his hands, the “Converse Cowboy” uncovers what it means to be successful in the Western industry and beyond.
Since January 2020, Mike Roberts — best known as the “Converse Cowboy” online — has been interviewing successful athletes, musicians, and professionals to uncover “the mindset, psychology, and philosophy of high performers from all walks of life.” Among the guests on his podcast, C&I readers may recognize legendary cowboy poet Red Steagall, country singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson, and PBR legends. No matter the industry, each guest has one thing in common: success in their respective field.
“I'm very curious by nature. Anything I do I want to do it the best I can possibly do it — and I want to expand my awareness as much as I possibly can,” said Roberts when asked what inspired him to start his podcast.
Roberts' curiosity pays off as he asks nitty-gritty questions to explore the mindset of those excelling.
In addition to providing his followers with insightful interviews, Roberts is known for sharing inspirational quotes on his Instagram account.
“Care about what others think, and you will always be their prisoner.”
“You attract what you are. If you want better, be better.”
“You’re under no obligation to be the same person you were five minutes ago.”
These are among the captions seen on his social media grid. Another thing commonly shared on his profile? Book recommendations that may help others achieve personal or professional success. Below, we share a few of his favorite reads.
