KJ Apa of TV’s Riverdale also will star in the HBO Max project.
After positioning herself as a strong Emmy Award contender with her powerful performance as Elsa Dutton, the ill-fated daughter of a pioneer couple, in 1883, Isabel May has signed on to play a super-powerful character in Wonder Twins, an upcoming HBO Max project inspired by DC Comics.
KJ Apa of TV’s Riverdale and the popular faith-based film I Still Believe also will star in the live-action movie, which will mark the feature directing debut of screenwriter Adam Sztykiel (Rampage, Black Adam). Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Atlanta.

And who, you might ask, are The Wonder Twins? Jayna (May) and Zan (Apa) are extraterrestrial siblings who can trigger their amazing abilities by touching hands and exclaiming their catchphrase: “Wonder Twin powers, activate!” Jayna can transform herself into any animal in the universe, while Zan can transform himself into water in any state (solid, liquid, gas). They first appeared in alongside Batman, Wonder Woman and other Justice League heroes in the 1977-78 Hanna-Barbera Productions animated series The All-New Super Friends Hour, and subsequently have been featured in various cartoons and comic books.
Presumably, Isabel May won’t have to worry about dodging poisonous arrowheads in this project. That is, unless Jayna runs afoul of the DC Comics character Green Arrow.
