We talk with producers of the documentary premiering Wednesday on PBS.
Following in the hoofprints of its acclaimed 2019 documentary Equus: Story of the Horse, the award-winning PBS series Nature – now in its 40th season –– is back in the saddle again with American Horses, a celebration of such uniquely American breeds as the Mustang, Appaloosa, Morgan, and Quarter Horse. Narrated by veteran actor (The Ballad of Lefty Brown, Independence Day) and Montana rancher Bill Pullman, the new documentary premieres Wednesday, Feb. 23. (Check your local listings for the exact time.)
Each breed has a distinctive story, and each story is deeply rooted in the American experience. Grounded in historical moments, and relayed by knowledgeable experts and lifelong ranchers, American Horses traces the emergence of these remarkable breeds and the role they played in the development of the U.S.
We recently spoke with with Fred Kaufman, executive producer for Nature, and Emmy Award-winning producer Eric Bendick about American Horses in the C&I Studio.
